These independent musicians from Iceland created a song that really caught my ear. I sought out the music video they created, and was surprised to see a confusing ending–suggesting something which the artists didn’t intend. A simple edit would have made a huge difference (such as adding a final frame that showed the mother adjusting her rearview mirror to check in on her sleeping child in the back seat).
It’s a reminder of the importance of beta testing what we create before we hit “publish”. It’s so easy to get too close to our work and assume that our intended message is obvious to others.
It’s a beautiful song, check it out:
As I follow through your website, I chose to check in on the video to which you referred. That was not the ending I anticipated. Consult Mr. Webster on the definition of sucked; I’m sure you’ll find written: See the ending of Bara Heida’s “I Got Your Back.”
hahahah! I would certainly have edited it a little differently, but then again I know nothing about music or music videos. But I know (some) about storytelling.
Beautiful song, terrible storytelling technique!
